Canoe: Bowl
The purpose of this project was to create a product made from plywood where the tension in the bend of the material would become an integral part of the design. The bowl was inspired by the ribs and shape of a canoe and embraces the idea of exposed joints. All the pieces were precisely laser cut, limiting the waste of material and allows the bowl to be shipped flat.
Hexi
This was a collaborative project with Mina Ghaani and Paige Vanderkemp. Co-creating with children from a local daycare, we developed two sets of lightweight children's furniture. Each Hexi was created with a honeycomb cardboard core in hopes to make it both lightweight and sustainable. The half-hexagon hard and soft shapes can be used for standard seating or rearranged into an unlimited number of play environments like beds, forts, boats, cars, planes, trains or obstacle courses.
Cici Blocks
This was a collaborative project with Lorea Sinclaire. We tried to create a new take on the classic idea of building blocks that could push the boundaries of a child's imagination. The block's unique shape gives them limitless possibilities for play.
Jack
Jack is a giant (3 foot cubed), wooden replica of a piece from the game of jacks. It is meant to evoke a sense of nostalgia in the user who enjoyed the game as a child.
Lighthouse: Exhibit
This was a collaborative project with Lorea Sinclaire and Rachel Simpson. We designed an exhibit showcasing green building materials and techniques for the Lighthouse Sustainable Building Centre. The space needed to be both engaging and flexible so that products may be cycled through every 6 months. Our concept featured a movable wall panel and shelf system that integrated large interactive material swatches that revealed information when rotated. We also included floor graphics to guide people through the space and a green wall on the patio.
More Than Just a Coat Rack
A wet umbrella is able to hang in the center of the coat rack, allowing the water to drip onto the potted vine, which grows up and around the rest of the structure.
Is Grass Green?
This infographic is meant to educate about the environmental effects of grass lawns.
Skype: Exhibit
This was an exhibit concept for Skype at CES. The space was divided into three areas focusing on mobility, core and business services. The rainbows create a huge visual impact and emit a soft light around the edges. There are video chat stations set up at the end of the rainbows, directly in the view of passers-by, inviting them to interact. Clouds have been abstracted into seating and display pods with light-hearted illustrations poking out. When someone sits down, a seat over from them lights up following a visual cue on the floor. It's all about connecting people.
Remote
This poster was meant to show the history of the remote as inspired from my own personal remote.
